Hotel Transylvania Blind Box Codes Revealed - The Secret of the Trunks

    When the Hotel Transylvania Monster Mayhem Series 1 Mystery Packs came out, I felt a mixture of excitement and dread. On the one hand, there were cool new mini figures to collect. On the other, there weren't visible markings on the packaging to give away which figures came in which trunks, and worse, not all figures came in a case. With 61 figures in the series, how could anyone hope to keep track? 

    Deep inside I knew there was to code to crack, and the realization came to me while carefully inspecting a trunk: it's a combination of the trunk color, its expression, and the color of the key. 

    While I don't have photos of every combination, without further ado you can find an unofficial guide to knowing which figures you're purchasing. Bonus: These trunks have all of Hank's Build-A-Figure parts, so if you're missing a body part you can find the right piece below. Unfortunately I didn't record if the limbs belong to the left or right side, but at least you don't have to buy 60 trunks before finding a body part, right?

DKE Con Live at DesignerCon 2020!

COVID-19 has shut down conventions all over the world, but it hasn't shut down the art community. DesignerCon 2020 is online November 13th-15th, and DKE Toys is hosting a live virtual event, DKECON! The Katerpillar is excited to take part and present: THE CHILD.

We heard everyone loves the child from Star Wars, but we have no idea why. We thought everyone hated young Anakin? With our fingers on the pulse of pop culture we've once again delivered to give the people what they want.

While the figure itself is an obvious reference to the disappearing photo, the title of this piece is an homage to season one, episode nine of the Netflix original series GLOW. In the episode, Marc Maron is doing lines of coke with two staff from a fundraiser party. He starts telling them about how he's spent the past decade writing a semi-autobiographical psychosexual time travel drama about a kid that can't stop thinking about having sex with his mother, so he wants to go the future where she's all old and disgusting, but instead he goes back in time and spends the whole movie trying not to fuck her. One of the staff starts laughing and tells him he's already seen that movie, crushing his dreams.

Did we mention we made a 5"x5" lenticular of the backer that comes exclusively with the figure?

The Katerpillar would like to everyone that attended DesignerCon 2015 this weekend and supported us by picking up a Slave-One and/or Spark. They were available at DKE Toys booth #812 for $65 each, came on a metal backer card, were hand cast in resin and were hand-painted. Limited edition of only 20!

Flatwoods Monster on Display

KiLL!'s sculpt of the Flatwoods Monster for the Kaiju Kaos tabletop miniatures game is on display at the Braxton Convention and Visitors Bureau in West Virginia.
